Most spinal cord injuries (60%) happen in young adults who are in the career development stage of life.
Studies show that working after an injury improves quality of life, life satisfaction and adjustment.
Educational attainment is the strongest predictor of returning to work.
Thanks to the generosity of sponsors, volunteers and participants, we have established the Shoot for the Future Scholarship Fund of The Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee for scholarships and career training. Through a partnership with the Tennessee Chapter of the National Spinal Cord Injury Association and The Community Foundation, we will help channel those scholarships to the most deserving recipients.
Applicant(s) selected will receive scholarship support for educational expenses.
Apply online beginning January 1. Applications due March 15. Those eligible for this annual scholarship are individuals with spinal cord injuries who are:
- Tennessee residents, or
- Students who will be attending a two-year community college/technical school or four-year university in Tennessee
Scholarships are renewable.
The Shoot for the Future Endowment Scholarship Fund is managed by The Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee (CFMT). Selection of recipients will be done by CFMT based upon criteria established by SFTF evaluating the goals, enthusiasm and perseverance of each applicant.
